Tips on pitching your business plan by small business accountants

When it comes time for expansion, there are a few things you need to focus on- funding being an extremely large factor. You may have the best ideas in the world, but without the appropriate funding, your business will be unable to grow. As such, it is important that you learn how to pitch a business plan to potential investors, so that you are able to grow your business. Here at M.A.S Partners, the leading small business accountants in Zetland, we understand the importance of a good business pitch, and have worked with hundreds of businesses to perfect theirs. As such, we have provided some tips, to hopefully get you to deliver a successful business pitch.

What should you demonstrate?

Regardless of who you are trying to convince to invest in your business, it is important that you show that you have a realistic business plan; share detailed financials; convince them that you know what you are talking about; and that you are excited about the project. An investor wants to work with someone who is passionate about their business- willing to do anything for it. However, at the same time, you must show that you have a realistic goal in mind. Although you may be passionate, you must be cool-headed.

Showing your plan

When you create a business plan, you should write up an executive summary, where you explain everything about your business in a few sentences. Explain the potential opportunities that lie in your market, and how your business will capitalise on that; the market analysis that you have done that proves said opportunities are real; how the funding will help your business, and how much it will cost; your business model, on how you will make money; and you financial forecasts and budgets, showing the investors that you will be profitable. It helps to know exactly who your customers are, and how much they are supposed to grow with the new funding.

Financials

When you are pitching to investors, you want to show them that you have taken everything into account, and all they need to do is invest. Your budgets needs to be thorough, including allowances and unexpected costs; you need to be specific about how you plan on spending all the funding; and show how the investors will make money by investing in you.
